Science to Action: The Road to Davos 2030
Date: Wednesday, 22 January 2025
Time: 14.45-15.45 CET
Location: Arctic Basecamp (outside the Hotel Schatzalp)

Organized by the Earth Commission, Arctic Basecamp, and others, the event will feature a panel discussion exploring essential topics such as the planet’s safe and just boundaries, translating scientific insights into action, and making the business case for sustainability. Speakers include Joyeeta Gupta, Professor of Environment and Development in the Global South, University of Amsterdam and Earth Commissioner; Wendy Broadgate, Executive Director, Earth Commission; Jane Madgwick, Global Commons Alliance and others.

As 2024 goes down as our warmest year yet, it’s clear that science must lead the way to a sustainable, equitable future and to underpin our political and economic systems.

Yet, too often leaders hesitate when evidence-based action is needed most. This year the Commission will share how the latest science shows the path to prosperity for people and the planet but only if humanity can learn to live within Earth’s safe and just boundaries and ensure equitable conditions for all.

Safe and Just science first took centre-stage at WEF in 2023, when the two Earth Commission Co-chairs, Johan Rockström and Joyeeta Gupta, delivered a preview of the Earth System Boundaries.

The Global Commons Alliance will also be on hand at Davos, participating and hosting events throughout the week. Find their calendar of events here.
