Earth Commission at COP27: Highlighting Climate Science in Negotiations to Inspire Action

The 27th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP27) to the UNFCCC will happen in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt from 6 – 18 November 2022. 

The Earth Commission has a significant onsite and virtual presence throughout the conference. Our researchers will be participating in and holding events and releasing key reports and research for supporting negotiations.

The Nature Newsroom:

The Global Commons Alliance (GCA) is partnering with Nature4Climate and UN High Level Climate Champions to coordinate the Nature Zone pavilion at COP27 hosting live-streamed events, and Nature’s Newsroom – daily live broadcasts from the center of the action.

What: An interactive workshop: “Change is in our Nature”, with the Nature Zone collaborators. Focus on the necessary whole Earth approach and systems change.

What: An event: “Climate Repair”, on the theme how to repairing our world, to avoid runaway climate change. Earth Commission speakers contribute with better understanding of dangerous, interconnected tipping points and Earth system boundaries that are set to avoid crossing such tipping points, for example in ice sheets and coral reefs. With the UN Climate Champions team, Global Commons Alliance / Global Fund for Coral Reefs/ Green Africa Youth Organization, and more.
